We believe this rare and interesting coffee makes for an ideal and very different gift. Extremely rare and coveted, Indonesian Kopi Luwak coffee is produced by civets, a relative of the mongoose, who have a taste for the sweet, red coffee cherries that contain the beans. The beans pass through the civet whole after fermenting in the stomach and that's what gives the coffee its unique taste and aroma. Collected from the jungle floor, then thoroughly washed and dried - this is the coffee that everyone's been talking about.
With earthy Sumatra-like tones, the Kopi Luwak has a heavy, caramel body and low acidity, but also a nuance in the taste that is hard to put ones finger on. Perhaps that is unsurprising given the unorthodox method of processing...
