As part of my first order from Compass I opened and ground this first (well done compass by the way, especially roasted for me... I feel so special!). I'm using a Gaggia new baby running after some messing at 9.1Bar with a VST basket loaded at 15g. This coffee tastes incredible. In a double added to hot water is simply divine, zero bitterness, a shocking amount of crema on the pour (especially for arabica beans) and a long smooth aftertaste that sits right until you have your next one. As a straight espresso it has a strong dark choc favour, with an almost porter or milk stout flavour coming through. As a Latte or Flat, just perfect... Yoi really cant foof this one up. If you went on a high street coffee shop and someone served you this, you'd keep going back! Its hard to imagine anthing better than this! (Posted on 03/03/2013)
Just received my shipment, straight in the grinder it went. I have a Presso hand crank espresso maker and my single biggest bugbear is that no matter what I try in the way of settings with branded beans I can't get a decent crema. The first thing I noticed as knocked out my shot was that the crema was forming exactly as it should do, during extraction. Top marks for looks, then. What of the taste? Yum. Very good coffee, top marks again. All in all a very, very nice shot. And fast delivery too, with email tracking at every stage. Keep up the great work Coffee Compass, with service & products like this you're certainly headed in the right direction. (Posted on 29/08/2012)
Have come back to this blend several times. For my taste, has to be one of the best blends out there. Makes great latte, assuming you get the grind, tamp, distribution and extraction right, its rich on flavour, texture and strength. Good crema too for latte art. Well recommended. This is a real poppet. In cappuccino it's forgiving, chocolatey, with no bitterness but with enough presence to cut through the milk. The Mediterranean Mocha is also very good, but I ended up preferring this one. (Posted on 26/02/2012)
...can't choose from which of the four is best...the unground bean aroma, the ground bean aroma, the scent of the brewing coffee or the taste!!! Delicious! (Posted on 11/10/2010)
