The Indonesian coffees that we have available are primarily from Sumatra and Java. They tend to have a lovely depth of flavour with earthy undertones and are a pleasure to drink at any point in the day.

Also known as Old Government Java, this coffee was traditionally used as ballast on sailing ships plying the spice trade around the islands of Indonesia. The moist, salty, warm air beneath the waterline in the ships hull prematurely aged this coffee giving it it's tawny, heavy bodied character. These days the conditions are recreated and the coffee is left to age in order to bring out the traditional characteristics. It has mild/low acidity, a syrupy heavy body and a balanced sweetness.

Learn MoreThe Mandheling district is the most famous coffee region in Sumatra. It is grown above the port of Padang towards the west of Sumatra at 2,300 to 5,000 feet.
It has a very distinctive character which is both sweet and syrupy but with an almost earthy, tobacco-style finish. Even as a medium roast, this is a very full coffee ideal for those who appreciate the stronger flavours.

Learn MoreThis new lot of Lingtong is fabulous. It has a lovely bright acidity and the depth of flavour that only a top grade Indonesian coffee can deliver. Indonesian coffees are often overlooked which upsets us as some can be truly stunning.
This Java Lingtong has a soft brightness and a rich, spicy flavour that fills the entire mouth. The flavour lingers and then softens to give a smooth, clean aftertaste. Real classy coffee.

Learn MoreSulawesi produces only around 70,000 bags of coffee each year at around 760m to 1070m above sea level. The coffee beans are graded 1 to 4 with 1 being the best quality and usually posessing the best cup characteristics.
Sulawesi lies to the North of Timor and the town of Kalossi is slightly to the south of the town of Rantepao in the growing region of Toraja. The coffee trees are grown on small plots around the villagers' houses and the entire family engages in the picking and processing. Coffee is even grown on the rice paddies that provide the staple diet. Coffee serves as a cash crop that supplements the family income.
The coffee has a rich, full body, low to mild acidity, big, big body and mouthfeel both aromatic and herbal.

Learn MoreBack by popular demand. If you haven't tried a Papua New Guinea coffee before, this is the perfect one to try.
Papua New Guinea shares an Island with the Indonesian province of Irian (or simply Papua) but doesn't share the same Indonesian coffee profile. Rather than the bold body, low acidity and earthy-like characteristics you'd expect from an Indonesian coffee this cup has a delicate brightness with a softer, more mellow body. There is a deeper, wild richness to the cup, but not in the same way as a Sulawesi Kalossi. It is more the subtle complexity of the cup which is interesting and has a lovely mouthfeel with lightly floral and fruity notes.

Learn MoreThis is a definite favourite of ours and as soon as we were offered some we jumped at the chance. This is not a sharp, bright, fruity coffee. This coffee is for people who value full-bodied, chocolatey, smooth, slightly spicy coffees with a rich mouthfeel. A consistently wonderful Indonesian coffee.
The Jampit Estate is located in the eastern highlands of Java and is one of six large coffee farms owned by the Indonesian government. The coffee is a mixture of Java typica and some catimore derived cultivars. It is hand-picked by the local community, many of whom live in villages situated within the farm itself. The freshly picked cherry is washed and fermented in a spotlessly clean wet mill situated on the farm before being sun-dried and stored for conditioning. After dry milling the beans are hand sorted.
