The Mandheling district is the most famous coffee region in Sumatra. It is grown above the port of Padang towards the west of Sumatra at 2,300 to 5,000 feet.

It has a very distinctive character which is both sweet and syrupy but with an almost earthy, tobacco-style finish.  Even as a medium roast, this is a very full coffee ideal for those who appreciate the stronger flavours.
