Colombia was traditionally the second largest coffee producer after Brazil. It was only until fairly recently that Vietnam's output exceeded that of Colombia, although its coffee is significantly superior to Vietnam who produces almost 100% Robusta. Colombia has cemented itself at the pinnacle of the smooth, fine and consistently well-balanced coffee-producing nations of the world. There are two key areas of coffee production in Colombia: the first is the central region of Medellin, Armenia and Manizales (referred to as MAM to those in the know), with the second region situated around Bogata and Bucaramanga in the eastern mountainous region. This Colombian Medellin Excelso coffee is grown at high-altitude in the rich volcanic soil within the central cordillera and distributed through the town of Medellin. The coffee displays a rich body and well-balanced acidity. When roasted to its optimum it gives a beautiful, heavy body and a lovely hazel-nutty aftertaste.
Ideal for filter, cafetière or espresso.
