What a gem of a coffee this is! Deliciously fruity and sweet with a fantastic body. It has a really bright pineapple note at the front end, with a lovely smooth tea like body and lingering finish. Top draw. Those who enjoy the Ethiopia Rocko Mountain and the Ethiopia Guji Dimtu will love this. I'd pop it right between the two - it's not quite as fruity as the Rocko, but moreso than the Guji.
This coffee is grown at around 1850 - 2100m.a.s.l. in the world famous Yirgacheffe district, in the Gedeo region of Ethiopia. The Yirgacheffe region is world famous for producing some of the best coffees in the world & has ideal conditions for growing top grade speciality coffee. This lot is from around 700 smallholder farmers around the town of Chelba. Each farmer has approximately 150-200 trees each. The Natural process involves the ripe cherries being delivered to the mill where they are sorted and graded then placed onto raised drying beds in thins layers and turned every 2-3 hours. 6-8weeks later, depending on weather and temperature, the beans are de-hulled. This gives the coffee a very fruity & zingy cup.
We're roasting this to a light/medium roast to really keep those fruity characteristics shining through. Makes a wonderful brewed coffee (particularly good as a Chemex) & a really surprisingly fruity espresso (had to tighten the grind up mind). Can see this being a firm favourite around here.
