Tusker Elephant Blend is made up of Maragogype and Pacamara varietals from Africa, Central & South America. The Maragogype bean is much bigger bean than most varietals (almost oversized in fact) and has been known as the 'Elephant Bean' - hence the inspiration for the name. The Maragogype varietal is very large low yielding plant, with giant leaves and extra large fruit. The coffee is highly sought after in Eastern Europe and Japan for itswell rounded cup and delicate acidity. The Pacamara is a hybrid of Pacas and Maragogype first grown in El Salvador in the 1950's.
The initial reaction from our commercial customers has been brilliant, especially the mahogany version, hence us offering it to you.
The Mahogany Roast level means it easily cuts through milk based drinks. This blend has a low acidity, but retains a pleasant soft fruit and well rounded cup, with a rich & deliciously moreish mouthfeel.
