This Kenya Peaberry is grown in the Nyeri district in central Kenya near the slopes of Mt Kenya. The fig tree is commonly found in this area and is an indication of the fertility and productivity of the land.

Smallholder farmers bring their finest ripest cherries to the mill where they are washed, sorted and dried on rasied beds. The peaberry is a natural occurring mutation of the coffee cherry where only one smaller rounded bean develops where there would usually be two flatter beans. The separation of these beans allows for a more uniform roasting process, which of course we love.

The peaberry occurs when a cherry only produces one bean instead of two, thus creating a smaller, rounder & denser coffee bean.

This is a really juicy & full bodied coffee with notes of cinnamon & honey. There is a nice acidity with a brown sugar, toffee-like finish. Very clean - very tasty!
